Mandy Robinson
Mandy is the owner of Stables on the
Park. She owned her first pony at the age of
four and later during her school holidays, she
worked for George Cook, a breeder of small
horses. Going to England at the age of eighteen,
she groomed polo ponies for Colonel Harper of
Cowdrey Park, at Midhurst in Sussex, the home of
polo.
At twenty, Mandy had a live-in
position in France exercising hunters and upon
returning to New Zealand, she became a member of
the Kapiti Riding Club and hunted with the
Manawatu Hunt Club. She gained her Community
Coach Certificate and founded the Golf Cottage
Stables at Paraparaumu in 1986.
In 2006, Mandy established the Te
Horo Equestrian Centre to cater for those
wishing to improve their riding abilities. The
centre provides lessons from beginners to those
wanting coaching in dressage and jumping,
utilising the centre's full sized arena.
Mandy comes from a family that has
been involved with horses for a long time. Her
great-grandfather ploughed his farms with teams
of horses and her grand-father was a vet with
the British Cavalry in France during the first
world war. Mandy's mother has ridden all her
life, thus ensuring the love of horses is in her
daughter's blood.
